The coast is about 1/3 developed and we went on a nice sunny day and paddled out to the south heading for the large island about 2/3 across we found the shallow area. The weeds and grasses made the surface quite smooth to glide through.
When we approached the island there was a huge amount of lily pads and turtles sunning themselves. My wife picked some flowers and we watched the local swan family out for a swim.
We circled the island and returned lazily to the put in point. It took us about 2 hours of very easy paddling. There are a few other areas of the lake we didn’t explore so we may return.
As we left, a couple other kayakers arrived and several fishermen were there. It fits the bill for my style of kayaking lazing along and looking at the world.
