Todd's Fork - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Todd's Fork is a small farm creek. At normal flow it is just a trickle with lots of pools with stocked fish from Cowin Lake. After a period of rain, once the stream is 1 - 2 feet above normal it is a great canoeing stream.
From a few bridges in a little town of Clarksville on down to Morrow, as Todd's Fork joins the little Miami River, there is about 18 miles of undiscovered challenging canoeing. This stream is run commercialy by Morgan's Canoe rental, but it can be full of log jams & strainers at times.
At plus 1 foot to plus 4 feet it is ok for previous canoers, at plus 4 feet to plus 7 feet it is for true experienced canoers only. At one tall, old abandonded rail road bridge there is a line of standing waves rolling at about 3 foot peaks. Anything above plus 7 & forget it, everything is washed out & you are only floating with trees & stumps, & lucky to suvive the idiotic attempt.
Take out before Todd's Fork reaches the swollen Little Miami River at St Rt 22 & 3.
Todd's Fork runs between Wilmington & Morrow OH, north east of Cincinnati, it is all back roads, & much of it would be considered private running through cow pastures.
Contact Morgan's Canoe Rental at Ft Ancient, at 800-933-2663 or 513-932-7658, they can tell you the levels & most likely about any problem areas to avoid, they may also haul your boat to a great put in, & pick up your boat at a take out point & return it to your car, you can ride along too, check out the charge to transport your boat.
