Wenatchee River Mouth - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
The mouth of the Wenatchee River on the Columbia River just north of Wenatchee is a locally protected jewel. Between Rocky Reach and Rock Island Dams the Columbia River forms a slow moving body of water that invites exploration. In the middle of this area is the mouth of the Wenatchee River known as 1 of the best white water rivers in the Northwest but at the mouth is a slow moving giant that has created a beautiful wildlife preserve. On each side of the mouth are a series of small canals that meander between the Wenatchee and the Columbia. Access is easy and wildlife is plentiful. Be especially on the lookout for the many bald eagles that call the area home.
Located in Wenatchee are 1200 motel rooms with improved camping areas north of town.
From Wenatchee Ave in Wenatchee turn toward the Columbia on 9th street to the Lynden Tree Parking area of Riverfront park (4 blocks). Follow the paved path to the launch site maintained by the Wenatchee Paddle Club at the mouth of the creek beside the old barn (100 yards).
