Triadelphia Reservoir - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Day Trip Report
Submitted by: Stan_SS
This reservoir is owned/managed by Washington Suburban Sanitation Commission (WSSC). Since the Spring of 2006, Triadelphia has been closed to paddlers; the water level is low, with the work on the dam.
I checked recently (beginning August 2006) with the WSSC field office on Brighton Dam Rd., and it will be closed until further notice. Please call (see other report for desk phone) before making the trip.
The nearest destinations that are open are Rocky Gorge Reservoir. The day passes or a season pass can be obtained at the same location for Triadelphia Reservoir.
Another place to paddle near Germantown, is Black Hills Park.
Johnny on the Spot.
$3 day, $30 season, $20 mooring for season.
Directions to Brighton Dam WSSC cabin for passes:
From 495, take RT 650 North. Continue on 650 past Randolph Rd. For 8 or more miles, past Olney still on RT 650 North, make a right on to Brighton Dam Rd. Continue 2 more miles. WSSC cabin field office on is on right, just before crossing the bridge (dam).
Pick up free reservoir maps at WSSC cabin with pass. One side shows Triadelphia, the other Rocky Gorge.
The pass allows you to paddle either reservoirs, although Triadelphia (as mentioned) is still closed.
