Blue River - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: April 7, 2006
Nearest City: Milltown, IN
Difficulty: Moderate

Description:

Paddled from our camp on Blue river to Totten Ford Bridge (about 5-6 miles).

The river was murky and running pretty fast due to recent rains. The river was high enough that the local canoe livery wasn't open. The trip only took 1.5 hours. Was a lot of fun and gave me some good practice with my new kayak.

A few of the rapids were big enough to splash water in my face. I wouldn't try it alone or if you don't have some confidence in your paddling ability. Of course, when water levels are normal anyone can make this trip.

Accommodations:

Cave Country Canoes

Directions:

From Louisville, KY, take I-64 west to Indiana 64 west to Milltown. Or, stay on I-64 to the Corydon exit, depending upon what section you intend to run.
