That morning we set off to Wolf River Canoes. We were early but had to wait on a few people renting canoes to arrive. It was a bit chilly and a thermometer attached to my Dad's kayak said the water was 48 degrees. The water was up a foot according to the owner of Wolf River Canoes due to recent rains and moving about four or five miles an hour.
The river was pretty much clear after the storm. We saw a lot of eagles (ospreys maybe) a couple of turkeys and a lot of deer tracks on the sand bars. The canoers started paddling hard and left our relaxing day alone. The 10.6 mile trip, which usually takes 5-7 hours took us a little less than five and we only paddled to steer around the occasional tree and when the wind played games with us. We played a little kayak football and had a great time. We are trying to get our schedules together to do an overnighter soon.
Wolf River Canoes had more boats than I had ever seen before. They are the only place in the area that I know that rents sit in kayaks.
