Sandy River Reservoir - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip

Report Type: Day Trip Report
Trip Dates: November 2005
Nearest City: Framville, VA, USA
Difficulty: Easy

Description:

I put in at the boat dock at sunrise. I had paddled this body of water last year with a couple of friends in the dead of winter. I decided to take a new look at it in its autumnal splendor. I was not disappointed. The colors were brilliant and I was treated to an eagle sighting.

The lake is about 750 acres is generally an easy paddle. But as the lake generally has a north-south orientation, a wind from either direction can kick up a bit of a chop...as was the case today.

Accommodations:

Two boat ramps. One port-a-john.

Fees:

None.

Directions:

From VA 360 go south on Rt. 640.
