Description:

Every summer me and a few friends always go canoeing/kayaking & fishing in the Kankakee, last week, we did a nice day trip kayaking the Kankakee, thereís a lot of wildlife to be seen from muskrats, river otters, herons, and some nice size small mouth bass!! It rained the day before for a few hours so the river wasnít as shallow as usual, we rented kayaks at Reed's Canoe rentals, which provides a great service shuttle there and back, they come complete w/ life preservers and a fairly descriptive map so you donít get lost! There are a couple bar/grill restaurants along the way where you can stop and have a snack. This is a great river thatís surprisingly clean. Itís great for families, outings, adventures or just to get away from the usual hectic urban lifestyle. Just gotta know how to read the water because there are some shallow spots. Weíll be back again!!

Fees:

Bring your fishing permits if youíre fishing.

Directions:

I-55 to I-80 to I-57 south to RT 17 go right to Harrison take that till it ends in a T intersection go Left and it and Reeds is around the corner.
