Peanut Island - Kayak Trip / Canoe Trip
Riviera Beach, FL, USA

We went to Phil Foster Park boat ramp (east side of Blue Heron Blvd Bridge) You can see Peanut Island from the bridge we headed under, the bridge right to it against the current, it wasnít too hard. When we got out near the island you can see the ocean floor, beautiful blue water, turquoise blue water. I didnít know we had this water in West Palm Beach. I though it was only in the keys. There is a man made reef with thousands of tropical fish, a manatee area (we didnít see any, yet), they have campgrounds (with permit) J.F.K. bunker, a museum, bathrooms, lifeguards, sunken boats, picnic areas, boat dock, police patrol, etc., etc. My kids snorkeled for hours!!!! Next time Iím getting a permit to stay overnight (they have tent pads, BBQ grills, showers for campers) I canít wait to go again. I promise you will love this place. We went on a Thursday and we saw 7 other kayakers. P.S. This island just had a 13 million dollar face lift!!!
All accommodations all around. This is West Palm Beach Intercoastal area.
Boats (not kayaks) need permit to dock. Camping you need a permit, I donít know how much they are.
900 East Blue Heron Blvd- Phil Foster Park East side of bridge.
At Peanut Island there is a park ranger station, we got a map to see whatís on this 79 acre island.
