San Juan Islands - May 2004

Stuart Island "Eagles & Orcas" Paddle
The San Juan Islands are teeming with wildlife in the air, on land, and in the water. Protected ocean waters dotted with islands make for great scenery. The San Juan Islands are known for there pods of Orca Whales that reside in their waters but there is certainly lots more to see than just the whales. A plethora of seals, cormorants, eagles, and sea life gave us a great show. We even had a pair of Ospreys near our camp. For our trip, we paddled from San Juan Island to Stuart Island where we spent two nights. On our second day, we circumnavigated Stuart Island and spent the other two days paddling to and from San Juan Island.
