Friday Sept. 22
Education Day - 10 AM - 2 PM
Field trips for local & regional schools to meet the canoes at Columbia Bottoms presentations and hands-on activities for teachers, students and retirement
Camping : Riverfront Park
Saturday, Sept. 23
The Grand Flotilla - 10 AM - 1 PM
Any and all canoes & kayaks can join in on the last 10 miles of the Lewis & Clark Bicentennial Re-enactment, from Riverfront Park to the Great Arch, ending at the cobblestones just below the Eads Bridge. Arrival ceremony and canoe blessing will culminate at 1 PM.
1 PM Arrival Ceremony and Canoe Blessing of All Canoes – in the river below the Great Arch (in the West Coast First Nations tradition) – in attendance canoes & warriors of the various nations visited, made peace with and traveled through during the four-year expedition, possibly including the Chinook, Wannapum, Hoh, Lakota Sioux, and ????
Great Canoe Rendezvous - 4 PM - until
A celebration at Riverfront Park, music, dance, libations
Sunday Sept. 24
Great Rivers Canoe Race - 9 AM - 12 PM
Riverfront Park to the Eads Bridge - a sponsored event (potential sponsors: President's Casino? Outdoors, Inc? REI? Alpine Shop?)
Potlatch - 3 PM
Gifting celebration
Camping Arrangements:
Riverfront Park below the Chain of Rocks. Outhouses & Security. Shuttles provided between the Great Arch and your camp at Riverfront Park from the Arch.
