I haven't been around that area since ~97' so I don't know road conditions of "522 Rd"(what Telos Rd becomes...on the eastern side of Chamberlain)...sure the Telos("522 Rd" at that point) comes pretty close to eastern shore of Eagle....fwiw, you could also hang a left on Guy Allen Rd/Longley Str Rd as the Telos Rd approaches Round Pond. After heading west for ~8mi+/- bang a right on Grande Marche Rd...which heads up the western side, where there are some side roads that approach Eagle. Grab a DeLorme state Atlas...it shows it all.
Fwiw..I've never had any issues in parking & hiking/paddling....I often lock up and don't leave anything looking suspiciously valuable....often off on side roads...if possible. Just before embarking...might wanna either post or shoot NMW email about road conditions...and a few fellows(npmb.com) are around the area quite a lot.
Water levels have been low for springtime.
***7/5 EDIT: Water-levels should be pretty good, we've received weekly rainfall since spring...(fwiw).
Hope some of this helps...
