Anyone planning on taking an early spring trip into the BWCA?
Where are you going and for how many days?

& a buddy of mine make a spring trip every year along with a few other trips during the summer & fall. Usually go before memorial day weekend to avoid the crowd. We usually base camp at hog creek near Cook lake-a stones throw from the BWCA in the superior national forest. Not far from Kawashiwi entry point. Try to get at least 5 days in for paddling, hiking, exploring. I know a few spots where nobody goes (Plouff creek comes to mind)-you have to hike your gear in through the forest to get there, but well worth it. You don't see another human being where we go. We also avoid the permit fees staying just south of the BWCA- There's GREAT paddling, both flatwater & whitewater.
