  Lower Missouri River
Posted by: old_user on Jun-06-12 4:57 PM (EST)

My friend Kathy and I are going to paddle from Rocheport Missouri 186 miles to St. Louis at the end of July. I am getting conflicting information on what I can expect from the current. Has anyone done the trip. Is it reasonable to expect to cover 30 miles with 6 hours of paddling?

Check Missouri River Paddlers on Facebook. There's a lot of expertise there you can tap into.

Before you head out check with the Corp of engineers. They will be able to give you flows in feet per second. And miles per hour. That should help. It's been dry this year so probably slow comparatively.

Also, there is an organized group of 30 or so canoeing/paddling the MO in MO in late July. I can't remember the group's name.
