Three of us including Pnetter and new friend Peter Blanc enjoyed a three day float from Cedar Grove to Round Spring. We launched the day after Christmas and Terry and his buddy Dan joined us for day one. The weather was outstanding with cold nights and cool sunny days. Here are a few pics. https://www.facebook.com/luke.coop.54/photos#!/media/set/edit/a.10202689989121196.1073741828.1542718102/

Did you catch any trout near camp? That's usually a good spot.

For the photos and invitation to join you and Paul.

These last few cold days I have been really happy that I made the effort to get over to the Current and out on the river for a few days.

  Agreed.

So glad you decided to join us, and not just because you washed all those dishes. Hopefully you can join us for some others. It's not easy with the demands of work and every day life, but we try to do those kinds of trips at least a few times a year. I've determined it's time to invest in a down sleeping bag before the next one.

  down sleeping bags

I am currently in the market for a new down sleeping bag. I called each of the premium companies and harassed the gear guys. I am a little obsessed with gear. Marmot and big angus are both going to the "waterproof down" with the 2014 bags. So if I were you I would wait for the new down to hit the market. There is not going to be a price difference in the marmot but big angus is going to see a jump. Sierra designs has some last year bags that have the upgrade, but I have not heard good things about them. Just my two cents, sorry if you were not looking for my input. Those are great pics, I looked at them over and over. That tree picture is amazing.

  Thanks rocket.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pics, and I do appreciate the input. I think what I'll do is get a decent down bag that doesn't break the bank (Marmot Sawtooth or North Face Blue Kazoo price range) and grab a big waterproof compression bag that will hold mine and my daughter's bags and pillows. I've been using an Alps Mountaineering cold weather bag that was cheap (forget how much, but $60 range) and has kept me plenty warm for six plus years now, but it's not as warm any more and the zipper is really starting to misbehave. Plus, it's huge.
