We'll be coming through earlier this year. -Just doing the marathon.
Looking forward to it.
If you are there Friday afternoon we might see you also.
We will be doing a short run, with some other paddlers from the up stream park to the finish line.
If not, we will at least hike into the shoals

between 3 and 4 o'clock Friday afternoon.

What time are they starting the race on Saturday at Fargo and HWY 6 Bridge?

I am not sure of the time, but

in previous years at Fargo we started at first light. We were all prepairing our boats using flash lights and head lanterns, and I always cringed for the first mile or so since we were guessing their would be no sweepers in front of us.

The 26 miler starts as soon as the trailers that drop the 52 milers off get down to the bridge and drop their boats off. Just guessing, sometime between eight and nine AM

No way I am going through them with a Kevlar boat.

Several years ago, we were doing a scouting paddle on the Friday before the race, and a friend lined his boat through the shoals and ended up finding a real nice high end kayak paddle wedged in between some of the ledges.

I think it was that same year that some other friends of ours broke up their Texas Water Safari boat trying to run the shoals.

I don't blame you for portaging

the only boat I take thru there is my plastic SOT. All my other boats get carried around the shoals. Hope there is enough water to run the shoals so I can record everyone who does.

but no signs of life at the campsite at Big Shoals when we came portaging through. Ran through Little Shoals on the far left without any trouble...

We were sitting down by the shoals

waiting for someone to run thru them. As far as I know only 4 boats went thru them. Only got a movie of the last one. Will try to post it soon.

and figured you were down below.
We were the fifth boat through the portage and came in sixth over all.
Bill Aylor ran the shoals in a plastic surf Ski.
He was second overall in the 52 miler
