I am currently trying to plan a canoe / camping trip starting in mid June of next year ( 2014 ) down the entire length of the Mississippi river ( 2552 miles ) starting from the headwaters in Minnesota. If I can average 35 - 40 miles a day, then I figure that this entire trip will take approx. 10 - 11 weeks. Currently I am looking to find a tandem canoe partner to join me. I am also interested in finding some other people who might like to paddle with me in either going part of the way down the river ( different sections of the river ) or all of the way down the entire length of the Mississippi river. I live in a southwest suburb of Chicago.

I was wanting to do the river but taking over two months off work isn't really an option right now. I live between Morgan city and New Orleans so depending on the dates I would glad to bring the kayak out and paddle some with you. Also if I am able to provide any help between Natchez, MS(my hometown)and the gulf I will do what I can.

I think the actual mileage from Itasca to Mile -0 is 2340 miles etc.
