  Lynchburg and surrounding area paddling
Posted by: katdeni on Jun-03-13 9:47 AM (EST)

I currently live in Appomattox. I'm retired with no one
to paddle with. I would prefer day trips. I have
paddled the Mayo,New, Dan, James, Potomac, and many other rivers and lakes. I have a riverrunner and a touring. I am comfortable with C1 and C2 and have done
the occasional C3. I enjoy exploring small channels
and enjoying the wilderness and quiet. I would like
to explore the Appomattox (the headwaters to Farmville)
but have heard that it is impassable. I would be
willing to bushwhack my way thru it if I could arrange
a shuttle in Farmville or part way. I like a challenge! Anybody out there with time to paddle?
Bedford, Lynchburg, Appomattox, Buckingham, Farmville
areas are all possible areas but I am unfamiliar with
the smaller rivers. I've heard Big Otter River is a
good paddle and the Tye.

Thanks for the post I am in petersburg. This is where the Appomattox meets the James River. No problem paddling the Appomattox here to the James. Also there is the Appomattox river canal which is nice to paddle.
