The MidHudson Chapter of the Adirondack Mtn. Club (ADK) will hold its 11th PaddleFest on Sat., June 8, 2013 from 10 AM to 4 PM at Plum Point Park on the Hudson River in New Windsor, NY. I've attended this event before and it's not to be missed. There are free activities for experienced paddlers and newbies who have never paddled. If you have a kayak or canoe, bring it. If you don't, there will be boats there to use. Go to www.midhudsonadk/paddlefest for all the info as well as driving directions.

I'm going to try to make it up from Long Island to do some paddling. Quick question, given the choice would you bring a canoe (Rapidfire) or a sea kayak. Since I paddle the kayak regularly on Long Island I'd like another excuse to use the Rapidfire if the water conditions warrant.

Plenty of places around to make use of both craft. If you're coming up drop me a line and depending on where you're staying I can provide a menu of paddling options throughout the area.
