I thought this video (narrated by Paul Mason) describing "Ain't Louie Fest" was worth watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfqznTGKweA&feature=share&list=UUWd1MxAR7_YAkzty7UcrXQg
As the video describes, this now annual early spring whitewater open boat gathering in the southeast was actually initiated by some Canadians. The video shows some short clips from some classic southeastern whitewater runs including the Tellico Ledges, the Little River in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park, the Watauga Gorge, and other lesser-known steep creeks.
This gathering attracts some of the best whitewater open boaters in North America, guys like Paul Mason, Andrew Westwood, Mark Scriver, Eli Helbert, Dooley Tombras, Tommy Hagg, and of course, the irrepressible, irascible, and occasionally irrational Louie (Michael Bruce Lewis).
