We've done some river camping trips but the problem is the group's gotten pretty big... we just can't count on finding an unoccupied gravel bar site large enough to fit us all. (And high enough - the water levels on those Ozark rivers can change FAST. Wouldn't do to have to put up a post about half of paddling.net being rescued from the treetops.) There's no reason some of us can't break off and do the river camping thing, though. Pulltite is right on the river and offers showers and all the amenities a large group could want. And its big enough to give everyone some space of their own. We usually just take over the more isolated back half of the campground. Logistically it works out better... heck, there are even those among us who are starting to use campers and travel trailers. We must be getting older, eh? The past two years the spring rendezvous has been held on the Northfork (of the White River) rather than the Current/Jacks Fork. This is partly because we've been flooded off the Current a few times in the spring. (Real bummer for those who drive a long way or burn finite vacation time for the trip.) First we moved the dates back, then we switched rivers.
