  Do you mean Lake Tillery?

Lake Tillery borders the state park to the east. There is a boat ramp in the state park which you can use, or very near the boat ramp is an easy bank to put in kayaks and canoes.

The lake has powerboat traffic although it is much lighter when you head north from the put in. The only drawback is that it isn't a long paddle before you run out of lake to the north. You can also head almost due east from the put in and go up the Uwharrie River. Water levels will determine how far you can make it up the river.

One evening my wife and I went for a paddle at dusk and enjoyed playing hide and seek with a couple of otters in the shallows near the dam to the north.
