The Adirondack Canoe Symposium 2012 Summary

This years Adirondack Canoe Symposium, attended by 52 paddlers, seemed very mellow; thanks to excellent weather, great attitudes on everyone’s part and some superb finger picking. Next year’s event will be 07-13 July. 2013.

The Adirondack Canoe Symposium encourages better learning through more and relaxed time on target, and is a potential family vacation. The site is ideal with cabins on a private lake and camping just across the road. in the middle of the Adirondack High Peaks, paddling, hiking, golfing, fine dining and shopping are just minutes away.

Morning Solo Courses are blocked Monday Tuesday, then pick the same or another course for the Wednesday, Thursday, Friday block. Afternoons feature Tandem Courses and Special Sessions; tandem paddlers select one or two blocked courses of study. Special Topics include touring Forward stroke, the Inside Circle, Canadian Style paddling and High Kneel Thrust turns.

We take Wednesday afternoon off for Slalom, a Swap Boats opportunity, DeadFish Polo or just laying in the grass. There are also daily paddle trips in the nearby Sr Regis Canoe area or participants can take a session off to climb a mountain or see the sights in Lake Placid. The Adirondack Canoe Symposium has a relaxed format allowing expansion, breaks and options.

Thanks for coming to our canoe party

Charlie & Tom
