  Kayaking in Kawartha

I paddle with a senior's group on Wednesday and we often go up to the Kawarthas. Also, with a couple of buddies, we do different waterways and lakes in the area. Tell us something about yourself, regarding your kayaking needs. Thanks.

HI,
Thank you for responding.
I would qualify for the seniors part of your group, as I am 56 year old female. I am not a serious kayaker, but enjoy spending the day out in the water anywhere that is wet. I used to go alone quite a bit. I enjoy lakes, river and swamps. I live in Peterborough, land of many lakes. I can't lift my kayak up on my shoulders, so portages are out. My poor kayak gets dragged when necessary. So if you have any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it. I appreciate the post non-the-less.
Catherine

Hi Catherine. I can keep you in mind, the next time, I go your way to kayak, with friends. The senior's group (mixed group), I'm in, is from Oshawa. I don't know where we're going until the morning of. You need to be a member of the Senior's Club which is only $10.00 a year. I don't think it would be convenient for you, as you need to meet at 9:00am in Oshawa before we head out. For example, last week we went to Keene and paddled the Indian River and Rice Lake, about a two hour paddle. This is a Canoe Club, but kayaks are welcomed. I have a single and a double kayak. Other paddles have been the Indian River (Warsaw and Keene), Pigeon River, Little Lake and up near Buckhorn. Hope this info is of value to you. Cheers, Don
PS-Another requirment, we need to stop for ice cream (Kawartha Dairy preferred) after the paddle. LOL

Thanks again for responding Don. It sounds like a good group to belong to, except the part about driving to Oshawa, then turning around and coming back this way. Maybe sometime you are going north of Oshawa.?? It is so frustrating for me to be living in the land of lakes and can't find anyone to go with. I used to go by myself all the time until I broke my ankle (not kayaking). But it sure makes me think of all the isolated lakes I have kayaked. Enjoy the remainder of the summer.
thanks again,
Catherine
