Female Kayak Buddy - Teacher

I live in Iowa, I am female and 52 years old. I would love to learn to kayak, I don't currently own one, but would rent one and buy one after some experience. I am looking for other people in my area that would share their love and knowledge for kayaking with me and teach me and take on their trips. I just don't feel comfortable to paddle by myself out there. Please contact me if you are interested. Thank you:)

If you are in the Des Moines area Canoesports in Indianola offers introductory classes. In eastern Iowa the only shop I know about is Crawdaddy Outdoors in Waverly. If you are in Ames stop up at Ada Hayden on Wednesday at 7:00. The Skunk River Paddlers meet then. All these have websites you can Google up. You also can get information on the Central Iowa Paddlers website or at the Paddling Iowa forum.

You might also want to try contacting the county conservation departments of counties in your area. They often put on paddling events on local or nearby rivers and lakes. They can help you with instruction and often make boats available.
