  Adirondack Whitney Loop in mid-August
Posted by: Glenn_MacGrady on Jun-26-12 2:13 PM (EST)

I'm considering the Whitney Loop in the Adirondacks in early or mid-August. This is the longest wilderness paddling circuit in the East -- a 55 mile circle with some larger lakes, small ponds, streams, swamps, bogs, and even a little easy whitewater -- including 20 portages. I figure 5-7 days of relaxed paddling and exploring.

I could use some company. PM me if you are interested in this challenge.

with some tough portages. Lila up Harrington Brook is a bit of a PITA in long grass underlain with unseen small rocks.

Not the longest wilderness tripping circuit in the NE though. Just the best publicized.

There are a few folk over at adkforum.com who have done this loop. Perhaps a few more who would be interested.
