Paddling in Middle Tennessee?? Posted by: AuntieCoosa on May-27-12 11:28 AM (EST)
I just moved to Murfreesboro and I cannot locate any Paddling clubs here ... The Duck River is just calling my name ... as is Priest Lake and other lakes and rivers in this area Southeast and South of Nashville. Does ANYONE know of a club in this area that has regular local paddling adventures? I've looked on yahoogroups AND FaceBook to no avail. [My Pungo and Swifty are begging to get into the water.] If no club ... is there anyone who wants to paddle? I do have a couple of canoe paddles, but no canoe. Thanks, Happy Memorial Day Weekend ... and Day. Coosa
There is a group and it escapes me what the name is. Someone will be along to tell you. You could post this in the advice section. You might get a better response. Ryan L.
http://www.paddletsra.org/ South of you a ways is the ASRT - Alabama http://www.alabamascenicrivertrail.com/
The Tennessee Scenic Rivers Association is centered around the Nashville area: http://www.paddletsra.org/ The Tennessee Valley Canoe Club is centered around the Chattanooga area: http://www.tvccpaddler.com/TVCC_Home.html TSRA has a paddling trip coming up on the Duck on June 2. There are other east TN clubs as well such as Chota centered around the Knoxville area: http://www.discoveret.org/chota/
I will attempt to make contact after I get back from a NE VayCay in July ... There's not much advertisement... and all these rivers ... and I do NOT want to go out alone ... too many variables. Thanks again, Happy Paddling. Auntie Coosa
http://www.huntsvillecanoeclub.org/ I have paddled with group.
There are 3 local paddling groups on Meetup for Nashville (Nashville Outdoor Adventures, Paddle Adventures Unlimited and Active Outdoors Nashville) and 1 for Bowling Green Ky (Bowling Green Canoe and Kayak)
