6/2, I'm in NYC on bitness.
Some years back when I paddled(but didn't "officially" participate in)one of these "Funfest" on the Esopus weekends, I accidentally got to play rapids rodeo clown.
After broaching a friend's Mohawk up against a couple rocks sitting smack dab beneath the spectators' platform above railroad(slalom course), I could faintly hear audible gasps and dire comments coming from the crowd of some-30 people looking down at me. I was wedged in place, with water pouring over the gunnels.
I stood up in the canoe, blew the crowd a kiss and took a bow. Then I prooceeded with my struggle to free the boat--It took only about a minute, but oh, what a LONG embarassing minute! When I finally got extracted and was on my merry way, the crowd broke out in cheers. "I meant to do that, folks."...Yeah, sure.
Anyway, I decided to stick with my little ww yaks, awhile longer after that--They're not nearly as heavy.
