getting shuttle service in Pine Barrens
Posted by: mixwithh2o on Apr-30-12 6:26 AM (EST)

just curious as to whether there is a shuttle service that is reasonable and available (I'm sure by setting an appointment) for shuttle rides in different areas of the pine barren rivers in the summer during the week that anyone would recommend. Does anyone have any other suggestions for us going in with only 1 car and 2-4 kayaks for getting back to our starting points so we can enjoy as much of the area as possible. may also be going down this way again in the fall so definitely looking for helpful info. I am doing a lot of reading about the area, but don't necessarily know if some of it is out of date.

I've used Adams Canoe Rental on Atsion Pond with good result. I think there are a number of canoe liveries that also provide shuttle. You can look up Adams and others on the net.

An old geezer I know said he used Adams once and the shuttle driver spilled coffee in the car, which he didn't mind, but I think he was unhappy they didn't own up to it. So, maybe tell them to drink the coffee before they drive.

You can try Bel Haven Canoes & Kayaks for the Batsto, Mullica, Oswego and Wading Rivers - 609-965-2205.

For Cedar Creek, you can try Triple T Canoes - 732-349-9510 or Cedar Creek Campground & Canoe Rentals - 732-269-1413.

Paddle Shack does shuttles for the Great Egg Harbor River - 609-909-5250.

Garden State Canoeing by Ed Gertler is a great resource for the rivers in NJ.

We sometimes lock an old bicycle at the take out and one of us will ride it back to our car at the put in. The area is quite flat and the traffic is light on the back roads, but you will have to ride on some packed sand roads so wide tires work best.

Hi you can put in at Double Trouble State Park, and come out at Dudley Park. I camped at, and utilized portage services at Cedar Creek Campground. I am going camping on Memorial Day weekend, and utilize child car/portage services from family members. My parents, inlaws, and tons of camping friends hit up the campground that weekend.

Bel Haven seem to stopped renting and running trips a year or so ago and is now just a paddling store.

There is also Micks who runs on the Wading and Oswego Rivers.
