  Ozark Rendezvous Head Count?
Posted by: wildernesswebb on Apr-22-12 9:05 PM (EST)

-- Last Updated: Apr-22-12 9:06 PM EST --

Just thought I'd check our head count AND ask if you'all want to continue the Potluck? Pam has a thread on Potluck but looks like little interest in doing it?

So, Two of us, Margaret and I. Will arrive Wednesday and plan on paddling until Sunday if weather cooperates.

I don't have any strong feelings about a potluck dinner one way or the other.

Barring any problems popping up at work, I'll be there and so will Rena.

Oh yeah, forgot the potluck thing. I can go with or without. Rena likes such things though.

I just checked. I only have one and I'll be bringing it with me. Potluck is a great way to get everyone together at one time. I love to eat, cooking is a challenge for me however. You all must have noticed the dutch oven lasagna was missing the red sauce. I didn't realize what was off about it until I found the the unopened jar at my campsite.

Funny! You make Dutch Oven Lasagna this time and I'll REMIND you, my friend (LOL)!

Count this head in for the Vouz. Not being much for camp cooking I can take or leave the potluck. I usually weeny out by bringing real Porto for after dinner. Was a hit the first year (all that was left was an empty bottle.) Was a dud last fall. I think only Bob and I drank from it. I finished most of the bottle when I got home.

Potluck or no, I will bring some Porto.

Plan to arrive late Monday or possibly mid-day on Tuesday. Plan on packing up to leave on Sunday.

In the "wait & see" mode, until we get the results of the MRI I'm having done on my back tomorrow afternoon.

If possible, we will be there...........
Not much chance of JoAnne showing up solo. She needs me there to serve as "camp boy" & all purpose "flunky".

Pot luck: We can adapt to whatever the majority wants.

  Porto

A fortified wine from Portugal (Vinho do Porto, Porto, and often simply called Port.) Made in different styles: Vintage Port, Ruby Port, Tawny Port, and Late Bottled Vintage Port.

Vintage Port (or Porto) is only made in certain years declared as vintage years. They usually require 20 or more years of aging in the bottle. The others are ready to drink when released by the maker.

Some of wines I have are labeled Port and some are labeled Porto.

Port styled wines are also made in California and Australia.

I'm half a globe away, in China. Anybody know of an outfitter in Nanjing that can set me up with a canoe over here? My cohourts here don't have a clear idea of what a canoe is, let alone where to rent one. Paddle boats at the park is about all they're aware of.

This has been quite an experience. Traffic is unbelievable. I've determined that I'm definately not a cat. The 9 lives would have been used up before we got out of the airport!

Have a safe trip. I'm sure the food will be great, and the company even better!

  We will be there.

I will be down Wednesday, but won't paddle until Thursday and Rob will be down Thursday after work and plans to paddle, Fri,Sat, Sun. I am still good with the potluck as long as others were as well, I think we need to do it on Friday or Saturday.

See ya in a week!

Just got the official notice. My son-in-law got a job in Cantoment, FL, which is about 45 mins. from us. Not exactly sure of the moving dates. Grandma might need to be available here to help out with the boys. No more long trips to Iowa. More time to paddle, instead of them and us spending a lot of our vacation time traveling back and forth to see each other. It will be wonderful to see them all more. The boys, who are 8 and almost 5, are excited that they will live closer to the monkeys on the Silver River than I do. That is one trip we plan to do soon.

I can say with 99% degree of certainty; JoAnne & I will not be attending the Rendezvous.

This thursday we will both be at surgeon's office.
He will review xrays, and MRI of my back injury.
Will make decision regarding treatment after hearing his recommendation. Until further notice; I will not be doing any motorcycling, canoeing, or chain sawing.
Injury was result of whitewater canoeing & work with chain saw.

Yall have a fun & safe Rendezvous; we will miss seeing & paddling with all of you.

I will "endeavour to perservere"..........as will JoAnne, who believes I am NOT a good patient. She also believes I am slowly "driving her around the bend".

Slowly?
Hell, I must be losing my touch!

BOB
