Greetings everyone. I'm new to the forum and canoeing but not new to fishing. I'm out in Long Island New York. I mostly bass fish with my 10 year old daughter. I just picked up an Old Town Discovery Sport Square Stern 15 footer, with paddles and webbing seat backs for 400 bucks. Think I got a decent deal. What do you think? I already have a trolling motor and battery. Anyone fish from these? How do you like it? It is a bit heavy.

They are relatively stable and good for use as a fishing platform. You are planning to use it on some big water. I would wear a PFD and always have one of the daughter. Be mindful of water temperatures and don't go far from shore except in the warm weather.

Thanks for the advice. We always wear life jackets!
