No. Old Town Canoes are not the best. But they are good and usually are good values. I'm not familiar with the Camden in particular, but I have never paddled an Old Town Canoe I didn't like.

If you want extra stabilization, get some "training wheels". Old Town, Scotty, and several other manufacturers make canoe stabilizers that work very well. But canoes aren't nearly as tippy as some people think they are.
