According to Jim Anderson of Eminence, MO, the State of Missouri is going to pick up the funding for the upper Jack's Fork (near Mountain View) and upper Current River (at Akers) that were recently discontinued due to funding cuts by the NPS.

kinda interesting how they target the gauges people use for recreation- the ones lot's of folks notice are missing. for the usgs it worked out in wv, we (the river community came up with a good chunk of the dough.)

(not sure whether that was intended in the pejorative sense) I'm glad to see this. My canoe club picked up the tab for a couple of gauges around here when they went on the chopping block.

political extortion via hostage taking, a reaction to artificial scarcity created by a party that "governs" by the principle that government is the problem (while creating greater wealth for their plutocratic backers). It was a hard ball agency response to dead head tactics of the GOP. Extortion selects for extortion. Hell of a way to run a country.
