from a good friend in North Alabama.
I am getting serious about holding a building class this coming summer. The class would be held in Guntersville, AL. Probably be looking at 8 days and with a cost of AROUND $1200-1400. You would leave with a completed boat ready to paddle. Great camping and lake homes for rent so it could be a vacation for the rest of the family. If you would be interested I really would like to hear from you. I need to gauge the interest so I know if I should pursue this.

The Stonefly is beautiful|

I saw a picture of it three weeks ago and fell in love. The design isn't exactly a perfect fit for the paddling we do but I'm a sucker for a pretty face! I even cleaned out the shop, must be true love. She's my next build and first SOF.
Very appealing proposition|

but there's just about no chance I could afford the class, trip, or time away this summer [sad face]
My two cents|

I recommend the experience to paddlers. I did a program like this with Skipping Fish (Louisville, KY) and it was great. We worked almost non-stop for seven days (slept in the shop two nights) and enjoyed every minute of it. The building of the boat was as much fun as having the boat. What helped make it good was that it was set up so even someone without building skills could do a pretty good job of it.
