Nothing like having fun in a cheap disposable kayak. Learning curves are different for different people.
Now that was pathetic. |

How about failed to engage .... that has to be the most pitiful "surf" launch I have ever seen...

It doesn't come naturally to me to insult a guy who's demonstrated good humor about such an event the way he does (I didn't watch the last half-minute or so, so if something happened at the end of the video that makes this idea wrong, I apologize). It seems like he posted that video so others could get a chuckle, now that he sees how completely ignorant he was about what was "obviously" going to happen. Yet he is still willing to give people something to smile about as they watch him screw up. I'd have no trouble making derogatory remarks if he made lame excuses or tried to cover the mistake with big talk, but instead all I can do is see how silly it is. That's enough for me.

He might have started out thinking that he knew what to do, but it is pretty obvious that he figured out that was not the case by early on. So he got silly.
at least I tried to launch--and roll--.|

While it's often good to just "mess around", you do at least need to be aware of the dangers. I have seen a number of people injured in similar small conditions, where they were unaware, got down-wave of their kayak, and were injured when that very heavy battering ram of fully-flooded kayak bashed into their legs, driven by the shorebreak. It doesn't have to happen very fast to cause injury.
