Pretty spectacular photo of the week by Pam H. I was sitting in my boat just a little down stream as Chuck (and others) ran Bull Sluice and Chuck's run looked pretty impressive from that vantage point. But not as impressive as the photo.

Thanks for all the nice comments. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I of course did not make that run, I walked around and took pictures instead. Rob did make the run, I have that on video, but his run was so good that he made it look easy, the video is good but not as cool as this pic!
Wow, that's really doing it!|

Did he make it through upright?

Chuck came over the drop just a little to far to river right and caught the side of the hole and could not brace back up. But from that point the swim out of Bull Sluice is pretty benign. Locals jump into the rapid about there for fun.
I'm not thinkin' its a "safe" swim,|

I'm not wanting to be a fear monger, but I'm pretty sure at some levels there is a hazard (submerged rock) lurking in the lower run-out. I think a number of years ago it resulted in a fatality but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I haven't boated that rapid in over 25 years but definitely believed that a hazard existed then. My two cents: what you can't see at the bottom of Bull Sluice can hurt you.
Many have drowned in Bull Sluice|

Quite a few as a result of getting stuck in undercuts and potholes.

I've seen locals jumping into the river at that location, and none of them were wearing pfds.
Verrry Nice Pam|

Great photo Pam. Going to start giving Terry a run for his money in the photos category.
