with an audience of 200 he advised to look for tents with mosquito netting rather than no seeum netting as the latter makes for a hot tent which is true. His premise was that no seeums are not a problem in canoe country.
The doors were open to the outside in the hall and the noseeums proceeded to make everyone feel like they were on fire. Including him. He was now introduced to no seeums as everyone laughed. I think he merely had never camped in Maine or New Brunswick where a good sooty fire and no seeum netting are required.
He said he learned something that night. He is actually a fun guy to have a conversation with one on one.
Another time he advised raincoat over PFD, which I really disagreed with as its very difficult to get a handle on an unconscious swimmer wearing a raincoat. PFD straps are so much easier. This was a rather public debate in Kanawa.
Its all like a campfire discussion. Actually you can see from the questions sometimes there is more than one answer.
And he is fun to paddle with, though I have only done a day trip in Mississippi (of all places) with him.
