NT was one of those who's posts I always read and always enjoyed. His personality always came through. You always had the feeling you were engaging with a real person and not some sort of goofy "on-line persona" with him.
I recall a few private Email exchanges we had many years ago, about Curtis canoes, as I recall. He included some of his photos. I thought they were very good - one of the Susquehanna with the leaves of fall floating on the water was particularly striking. He had an artist's eye for sure.
Though it is really too far for me, I have often wanted to go to the Raystown events that I so strongly associate with him. Back when he was posting and paddling that desire was mostly because I always hoped to one day sit around a real (rather than a virtual) campfire and have a chat with him. It would have been a hoot, I'm sure. Perhaps there is a river on the other side - maybe a campfire on the shore is waiting.
I knew he was having health problems and that had led him to get out of canoeing. I can even recall a get-well card being passed around the campfire at Pulltite some years ago. And I recall about a year ago maybe (?) he even put up a post to say "hi" to everyone. It was good to hear from him and I wished he'd kept up with his posts even if he didn't feel up to paddling.
He was one of the really good ones who have been on this board. It is sad to hear of his passing.
Thank you for posting this and condolences to his family. If it is tough for us, I have to be overwhelmingly sympathetic for them.
