Recently I was visiting relatives in Washington state driving up to Anacortes on I-5. In the slow lane on a trailer was the frame for a large umiak. It was wood with some bone or ivory in the stem. The boat was at least 20-24 long, the kind used for whaling off the coast maybe. The driver of the tow vehicle was Native American. It brightened my day to know stuff like that is still out there.
