  Open Lakes Alberta

I'm looking for a lake that has the ice come off it fairly early in the season in Alberta, within 2 hours of Calgary or Edmonton. Any suggestions and info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Since you live in Yellowknife I think you'll have a better fix on this than 99% of the people posting here. Hope all is reasonably well up in YK. Quite a town. Bullocks still going strong?

  How early?

How early are you looking for?

There is normally open water on Wabumun lake, near the generating plants that use lake water for cooling. Paddling in the past was available by Easter, but there is always a variation.
