  Kayaking around Mobile, Al

   Category: Kayaks

We're going to spend a weekend in Mobile while my girlfriend has a two week biz trip. I thought I would drive down and take the kayaks. Any good spots?

Thanx!

Scroll down and look at the FL Panhandlers and gulfcoast paddlers thread.

Ricki, there are too many places around Mobile to mention. Look at the web site below for suggestions. My favorite paddle is the Escatawpa river. Look on a map of Mobile its in the NW quadrant. E-mail me if you need any specific information.

Escatawpa is a good choice. Rivers

were very low when I was down there a week ago, so I went to Goodes Lake and paddled a ways up and back. Very little current. A few powerboats on that Friday, but they slowed down and were real friendly.

The put in up at hwy 98 in AL would normally be desirable, but at a very low water level, a canoe would draw less water than kayaks, and would be easier to exit and drag where necessary.
