I only scanned the knife piece and looked at the photo. I carry only blunt nosed serrated dive knives when afloat. Once at a campsite anything goes. Only a serrated knife will cut through a snarled wet line in a flash. Test this out before you have a disaster. I am a woodworker and have Japanese water stones for my shop gear.
