there are chemicals/ fumigants pesticides, herbicides used on all grains. Tough to find "pure" food these days. Would be tougher without hexane :) As for me I like the taste and versatility of the soy stuff. Sometimes it gives me a bad belly burn though. A good recipe goes a long way in using this stuff. My wife is a veggie and can make the soy a delicacy. She uses coconut oil, a high dollar luxury, but we deserve it. Have been reading Anne's stuff for a long time and appreciate it as it takes my mind to a campfire next to the water.
