Bears can "claw climb" AND "hug climb"

Be aware that the Feds don't buy my policy even though many of them don't follow their own advice. For example, I have a friend who worked for the Forest Service in the BWCA for years. He said his crew never hangs their food! Bears climb much better than humans. Indeed, when danger threatens, the first thing momma bear does is send the youngsters up a tree. It takes maybe 5 seconds for junior to climb 50 feet up a tree. Momma can get there too if she wants, but it'll take her longer. Note that bears have claws so they can "claw" climb as well as "hug climb". Humans can only "hug climb".
