Charter flights - canoes in Alaska

Used to be able to haul kayaks as an external load in Alaska. Has that changed or is the restriction on just the canoe? I can see where the canoe would be a harder piece to haul externally. I have hauled double kayaks on two occasions up there without any problem. Good article!
