Great article I found it helpful. Only one piece of information I would add. Lipo or Lithium Polymer batteries have a shortened life in cold weather. Ask any electric R/C pilot about battery life in the winter.

Thanks for the post. I've come to prefer Ultimate Lithium batteries for my GPS. They last way longer than alkalines and work fine in winter.
