Nice article, my friend was just admonishing me about my incorrect technique when I did this as he sat in the water last week!
One thing that I think should be added to this is a precotion about lifting the bow of the kayak to drain the water--it works great for the weightlifters and 6 foot tall kayakers out there, but it does not work as well for those with loaded kayaks or those with weaker arms or touchy backs. The alternate method that I was taught was to empty as much water as possible (just as the article suggests) but then insteed of lifting the boat weightlifter style, with the kayak upside down on your deck, lean toward the stern of the rescued kayak, putting your boat on edge. This raises the kayak enough to drain the last of the water without as much effort.
