Battling Bear Phobia

An unreasonable fear of anything doesn't help the situation, but bears, like anything in the real world, must be respected if it is a threat to your or your loved ones safety. Bears can be a REAL threat to your safety. I worked one year for an outfitter in Montana, in an area with both grizzlies and large black bears. I discretely carried either a .44 pistol or short barreled shotgun with slugs. While a firearm was not the first response to bears, it is a better alternative to having to fight off an attacking bear with your hands.
