Good advice all around. I hear mixed comments about food in trees, but like you said, no choice sometimes. Other critters such as porkies and raccoons can be a problem, too. Bear boxes in Voyageur Park seemed effective for black bear, but I am not too sure they are the good swimmers brown bears are (excellent!).
