  laser light signals
Posted by: jakes1160 on Jul-18-08 9:09 PM (EST)

My only question on concerning the laser is the drawing shows it being aimed at the aircraft which is dangerous for the pilot and considered illegal. Is there a safe method for such signaling?

  LASER INTENSITY

According to the package info, this light is not a threat physically to the eye at a distance of at least 10' and that's aimed directly into the eye. The Pilot more than likely will only see a point of light along that line, no more than from a bright red blub. This would most likely be a flickering/blinking light. Once the plane acknowledged (by maneuvers) that he saw the signal,I would presume it would stop. I am not familiar with any legal restrictions regarding a unit used as such. Good question, thanks.

Thanks for the reply. If using it is OK it's a great safety devise. When I get a chance I'll look into the subject a bit more and get back. Thanks again.

Hi
A quick google search gave a lot of info but everything is interpretation. This is one site that says aiming one at an aircraft is illegal.http://www.legislature.state.oh.us/bills.cfm?ID=126_HB_231

Again I'll try to follow up when I have a chance. Thanks again. Great idea and product but have to pursue a little further.
